Kyoto is a historic district in Japan, You may have a perception of Kyoto where only castles and temples are for sightseeing. Indeed, there are many attractions with beautiful natural scenery you shouldn't miss.
Have you seen photos showing a bamboo forest?
There is Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, in the far west of Kyoto. Don't be scared by the word "far", actually, there is not too far from Kyoto Station. It takes 12 mins by San-In Line express trains and walk half an hour to Arashiyama. Don't be panic yet! The Saga-Arashiyama Station is in a small town, there are some cafes and restaurants for you to take a rest along the way you walk to Arashiyama from Saga-Arashiyamo Station. If you would like to enjoy the natural environment for a longer time, you should stay at hot-spring ryokan.
Actually, I walked 1-2 hours to the bamboo forest but I enjoyed so much.
Last time I went to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, I got out from the Saga-Arashiyama Station and walked for the south direction from the station. After a few minutes walk, I saw a cafe named Saganoyu. I felt a bit hungry so that I decided to dine at the cafe. I ordered a dish of pasta and iced coffee. The pasta was tasty, but the size is too small for me. The iced coffee didn't make me disappointed, both of them were in high quality. The staff told me that this cafe resort was converted from a bathhouse . I continued my journey, I found the Sagano Romantic Train, it was very close to Saganoyu Cafe. What's Sagano Romantic Train? I had no any idea about it. I just went to take a look. I saw the locomotive that was very impressive, it was in classic style.
Sagano Romantic Train

In Spring, you will see the spectacular wild cherry blossoms.
In Summer, you can enjoy the Hozukyo panorama.
In Autumn, the colors of Autumn will appear in front of you.

I didn't take a ride on the train, I will reserve some time to do it next time.
I kept walking toward the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, I arrived the Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama
accidentally. It is a commercial park, the opening hour is from 9:00am-5:30pm. I ain't interested in Monkeys so much. Therefore, I just passed by the park straightly.
I knew it wasn't too fast from Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, I walked 10 more minutes and arrived there eventually.
The bamboo forest was a nice place, the air was so fresh. I went along the pathway, all green bamboo surrounded me, the feeling was wonderful. I thought I will be very happy if I were a panda.
