Aomori prefecture is one of the most beautiful prefectures in Japan. It was ruined seriously during World War II.
Turning left out of the Aomori Station is the A-Factory. It is a shopping center selling local products, including sweets, fresh vegetables and processed goods. The most well-known product is their cider. They have cider factory inside A-Factory to produce cider and apple juice. Visitors can also have a rest at cafes and restaurants with the nice view of Aomori Bay Bridge.
On the opposite side of A-Factory is Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse. As I mentioned in Nebuta Matsuri in Aomori City
. There is a great parade for Nebuta held in early August every year. If you can't go Aomori in August, you can take a look the huge floats in Wa Rasse. They display 5 floats of previous parade.
Another must-go attraction is Memorial Ship Hakkoda-Maru(Hakkoudamaru) which is located under the Aomori Bay Bridge. Hakkoda-Maru was a train ferry and a part of the route from Aomori to Hakodate. Hakkoda-Maru's last voyage was in 1988, then it retired after Seikan Tunnel opened.
Going along the bay and you will reach the Tourist Center ASPAM. Besides information center, there are restaurants and an obersvation deck.
